The live feed of the oil spill has been online for several days now, and it's hard to miss when all of the news outlets are running it live during their coverage of the spill. In the last few days, BAGNews has offered some great analysis of images related to this ongoing catastrophe. The NYT also has a good multimedia collection of information, including maps.
In looking at the livestream, I am simply aghast at the header text accompanying the streaming video on BP's site. Even for Big Oil, it's a remarkable display of obfuscation and displacement:
What, you were looking for video of OIL? Thousands of gallons per day spilling into the ocean? Well, you won't find any of that here. I mean, sure, it LOOKS like thousands of gallons of oil spilling into the ocean, but what you're ACTUALLY seeing here is a damaged riser, being, you know, monitored. By the ROV, of course. Duh!
