The reason I've been running all those parking garages

Off today to southern Illinois for the River to River Relay: 8 runners, 80 miles, and 1 very smelly passenger van at the end of it all. Unlike the flat-as-a-pancake half marathon course last weekend, this run features hills. Real, live, actual hills. On Sunday I will return happy, but with screaming achilles and, if past idiocy is any guide, a really bad sunburn on the backs of my knees.

  • 6.4.10: From our garden, we're eating chard, greens, radishes, strawberries, and heaps of herbs. At the farmer's market we're buying the usual: eggs and lots of goat cheese.
