Thursday's NYT had this on a photogenic drawing initially thought to be the work of Willam Fox Talbot, one of photography's inventors (and the guy who coined the phrase "pencil of nature"). Researchers now wonder whether it's the work of Henry Bright, who experimented in the 1790s with images known as "solar pictures."
Friday's Washington Post offers a review of two DC gallery exhibits on the history of street photography, which feature the work of Arbus, Brassai, Cartier-Bresson, Parks, and my man Weegee, among others.
Our Jen sends news of a hilarious image challenge in which you submit a photo of yourself when you were younger and then photographically recreate it with the current you. Be sure to check out the gallery. I would submit Alien Baby, but alas, I have no bonnet with which to recreate the pose...
The image challenge is great! Actually, I DO have a bonnet you could borrow if you want to recreate the pose. Let me know if you want it.
