In the last few years I've learned that getting tenure is great, but helping friends celebrate getting tenure is even better. Which is why last night's party to celebrate a certain Tenure Babe was such a pleasure to co-host. Not only did it feature an international and multidepartmental guest list befitting Tenure Babe's groundbreaking scholarship on bilingualism and intercultural communication, it also featured the first ever (to my knowledge) tenure party art installation. Curated by party co-host and conceptual artist PJM, the multi-room, multi-object experience offered guests insight into six key moments on Tenure Babe's path to tenure. While the coveted Speech Comm tenure tiara also made an appearance (see photo above, at right), methinks this whole installation thing just upped the ante for future tenure celebrations...
It was truly a wonderful evening. I didn't want to take the tiara off last nite, and today am sporting my new shirt. Needless to say, it incites public comments. A big thanks to First Efforts, PJM, and Mr. Brawn, aka Mr. Tenure Babe!!

Definitely! And congrats to, ahem, "Tenure Babe," whose tiara was quite fetching.
