The little yellow house on Green Street had visitors this week in the form of K&J, my long lost running buddies, and their tiny tot Digger, he of the big blue eyes and devilish grin. J, now officially known as Dr. J, was here to deposit her dissertation and celebrate having completed the final task required of those who have reached the highest level of scholarly accomplishment: somebody measures your title page with a ruler to make sure you have followed instructions like this: "The word 'BY'. typed in uppercase letters, must be placed 4 inches from the top edge of the page." (All of which prompts questions like those posed by K this week: Why do theses offices continue to live in the world of typewriters? and, Why do you turn a file into a PDF, print it out, then turn it in to a University office where the first thing they probably do is send it to ProQuest, which turns it back into a PDF?)
It was great to be able to produce K as a guest star for the Friday morning run, which brought a few other runner friends out of the woodwork and gave everybody the chance to say hi. Our run reminded me of K's Rain Man-like ability to know whether a temp of 53 degrees means it's a shorts and long-sleeve day or a long pants and short-sleeve day. And then there's Digger, who reminded me that the only thing cuter than a baby stuffed into blue fleece feetie pajamas is a baby who sports paws on the feets of his blue fleece feetie pajamas.
Ahh, Cara - Your love affair with tots in blue feetie jammies started long ago...

Ha! Check out that Apple IIe. State of the art stuff. As I recall, it had not one but TWO floppy drives. We were livin' high on the technological hog, man.
That Bengineer was too cute...
