Please take time from your (okay, MY) basketball fever this week to celebrate SUNSHINE WEEK, a national initiative designed to call attention to issues of open government and freedom of information. In Minnesota, Sunshine Week coincides (not coincidentally) with Freedom of Information Day, March 16, when the Minnesota Coalition on Government Information gives its annual John R. Finnegan Freedom of Information Award, named after the fine fellow who not only taught me how to fish and paddle a canoe but also made the world safe for democracy in his spare time. And that, my friends, makes him a hall-of-famer.
Excellent! Three cheers for that Finnegan fellow.
