While working on a draft of the introduction to my book yesterday, I came across this sentence in a book proposal I initially drafted for this project in 2004:
Thus, I anticipate that I should be able to provide you with a complete manuscript, plus illustrations and any necessary permissions, by the end of 2005.
Heh. Note to self: In the future *always* add the following qualification to any such statements: "If no other work lands on my desk, if everything in my personal life doesn't fall down around my ears, and if this project becomes neither more complicated nor more interesting..."
[Not entirely unrelated: Mark your calendars for "Happy Woman Professor Day" on February 14! Blogos declares it so, and so it shall be.]
ha! That is a funny realization. Over in English, the full professors love to make fun of those of us who think our research rhythms as jr faculty will naturally carry over (if not speed up!) after we're tenured. I have learned how true this is.
